SAGEHEAD - Salvia divinorum - watercolor print

from $10.00

Salvia divinorum is native to Oaxaca, Mexico where it is still used to facilitate shamanic visions and divination (hence, the taxonomy). Interestingly, it rarely produces viable seeds - the plants are mostly clones, growing from fallen stems that have taken root.

About the series:
Memento Psychotropica is a series of 12 watercolor paintings featuring psychotropic plants and fungi. The name comes from a phrase I made up - “Memento mori, experientia psychotropica” - which roughly translates to, “Remember, you will die: now go experience psychoactives.” I’m not necessarily suggesting anything illegal - but there is a reason that humans have had relationships with these botanicals for thousands of years. Any experience that disrupts our baseline levels of consciousness can be a springboard for self reflection and awareness. Whether it’s meditating over a steamy cuppa tea or vibing with the energy of the universe and watching walls breathe, just... sit with it a minute. Be present.
