Ovis Canadensis & unknown Lecanora
SHEEP x LICHEN
In the Canadian Rockies, wild bighorn sheep will go to dangerous lengths to get their fix of this yet-to-be-identified species of yellow green lichen. They’ll climb to areas so treacherous no other plants can grow and they’ll hurt their teeth on the rocks just to get a taste. Natives use the lichen as a narcotic and even though this particular species has no name, it isn’t the only lichen out there that likes to party. Humans have found a handful of hallucinogenic species scattered across the globe!

About the series:
Memento Psychotropica: Ex Animo is a series of 5 watercolor paintings featuring psychotropic plants and fungi growing from the animals who eat them.
These plant-animal relationships have been observed by human to either show addiction, seeking behaviors, apparent enjoyment, or unintentional recreational poisoning. In the end, we may just be anthropomorphizing our megafauna friends but until then I'm filing these under "Ex Animo", i.e. "With Intention"
